Transforming your Chakras

Located about an inch below the belly button, the Sacral Chakra governs our emotions, sexuality, our intuition (ever had a "gut feeling?"), and our creativity.

The sacral energies can bring up control, anxiousness about the future. Many of us have been or currently are in the mindset of "I dislike change." The lesson to learn with this chakra is how to flow with life’s inevitable changes. Without change, our minds become dull and there is no growth. When the sacral chakra is functioning well and is balanced, our state of mind and the health of our entire body will impacted for the positive.

This chakra is associated with the water element, and has a moon in the six petal lotus symbol, to me also being a strong signal of how impactful the moon is on our cycles, our emotions, and our flow through life. The moon causes the waves of the ocean to change, and so too affects the liquids in our bodies. There's all kinds of articles and posts you can check out on any search engine to harness the moon's energies at all of its stages.

Crystals you can use to balance this chakra are:

Carnelian, Sunstone, Coral, Tiger's Eye, Moonstone

Because essential oils contain so many incredible chemical constituents, most, if not all, can be used for multiple applications and even span to balance multiple chakras.

Here are some of my favorites to balance the Sacral Chakra.

Suggested Essential Oils & Uses: 

  • Ylang Ylang:  with natural properties to enhance sleep, promote realxation, and balance hormones, I love popping a couple of drops of this one in the diffuser at night, applying it to diffuser jewelry, or wearing it as a perfume on my pulse points (neck, wrists, inside of elbows, behind knee)
  • Wild Orange: this is my go-to oil to bring about feelings of joy and happiness. Its uplifting properties also taste great in my water and promote healthy digestion in the body
  • Jasmine: this sensual, floral oil is great to apply to the bottoms of your feet or to pulse points when you're feeling like you need some emotional balance
  • Passion: instills feelings of excitement and joy when we're feeling lethargic, disinterested, or bored. I like to put 2 drops Passion 2 drops Fennel in your diffuser for a yummy combination, or apply to my palms and deeply inhale for a shift in mood

Food
 

There are certain foods that help to balance each of the chakras.
Foods for the sacral chakra:

Any ORANGE fruit or vegetable (think: carrots, mango, oranges, orange peppers, peaches, apricots, sweet potatoes), foods high in essential fatty acids such as flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, hemp seeds, cashews, and avocado (they even look like a womb!). Play around and be creative with your cooking! Creativity is one of the theme elements of this chakra.

Most importantly, since the sacral chakra is connected to water energy, you want to drink lots of h2o to nourish this chakra and your body as a whole.
