Oil Tip Tuesday: Balance

+ a little more about Ayurveda

· Essential Oils

Following up from my last oil tips about Lemon oil and its place in Ayurveda, I thought I'd talk about Ayurveda from a more personal perspective.

The three main natures or doshas are vata, pitta, and kapha.
In short:

Vata is light, quick, adaptable

Pitta is sharp, strong, active

Kapha is heavy, slow, persistent

From the Mind-Body Type Quiz I linked in my last Oil Tip Tuesday post, and from exploring Ayurveda through yoga teacher training, I have discovered that my mind dosha is primarily Vata, meaning I love beginning new things but sometimes have a hard time following through with them. I thrive in an active environment but can become overwhelmed.

When I am balanced, I am happy and full of life.
When I am out of balance, I am nervous, anxious, and discontent.

The warm, woody aroma of Balance Grounding Blend creates a sense of calmness and well-being while restoring the natural equilibrium of the body inside and out, which is why it is one of my go-to oils for when I'm out of balance.

  • Spruce: Grounding effect that helps with the emotional release
  • Ho Wood: Provides calming effect; increases spiritual awareness
  • Blue Tansy: Helps calm tension, stress, and irritability
  • Blue Chamomile: Calms nerves
  • Frankincense: Promotes meditation, improves attitude, and uplifts spirits
Meditation is a must for Vatas because our energy tends to be scattered with our minds pulling us multiple places at once. This oil brings me back to feeling centered and grounded when my mind is off in space somewhere and I can't bring my mind to a sense of peace and stillness. One of my favorite daily practices is to apply Balance to the bottoms of my feet in the morning, or before my yoga practice. It's also calming to the atmosphere and is one of my favorites to diffuse at night.

Balance is one of the 8 oils that comes in the Aromatouch Diffused Kit. If you haven't gotten started yet with getting these oils in your home, check out the starter kit options linked below.
